Cullman Outdoor 900 Archery Tournament

Date: May 26, 2018

Location: Nesmith Park

Ages: 12 & under, 13-18, 18 & up

Cost: $10 for 12 & under, $15 for 13-18, $25 for 18 & up

Times: 9am


NFAA 900 round consisting of 30 arrows at each distance using the standard 122cm FITA face. There are five, six arrow ends at each distance in descending order. There will be a practice opportunity of six arrows before the first scoring end at each distance. Divisions are compount unlimited, compound barebow, recurve unlimited, and longbow or recurve barebow. You are welcome to bring chairs, umbrellas, pop-up canopies, and coolers with drinks and snacks. No alcohol is allowed. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places in all divisions. All archers are responsible for being able to keep arrows on target at the shooting distances. Day-of registration will begin at 8:30am, and pre-registration is available now here.

Beginner Kayaking Class

Dates: April 2 – 16, 2018

Ages: All ages

Cost: $100

Times: 7 – 9pm on Monday nights

Classes will be held at the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center indoor pool and will teach techniques for beginner white water kayaking, including bracing, paddling techniques, and working on active river roll. Limit of 7; all boats and gear included. Class will end with a trip down a river TBA.

Kayaking Trip to the Nantahala River

Dates: July (TBA)

Ages: 16 & up

Cost: $50

Times: TBA

Trip to the Nantahala River will take place in July, dates will be announced soon on our website and social media pages! Trip will include overnight stay in a campground and a guided tour of the river by Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism instructors.

Youth Outdoor Adventure

Dates: March 17 – April 28 | September 8 – October 13

Ages: 7 – 14

Cost: $85

Times: Saturdays at 9am

Program will take participants to a different adventure each week, including rock climbing, zip lining, military obstacle course, hiking, and paddle boarding.

Summer Outdoor Adventure

Dates: June 11 – 15

Ages: 7 – 14

Cost: $100

Times: 8am – 5pm

Join us for fun outdoor activities, including hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, wilderness survival skills, nature scavenger hunts, camp fires, and lots of outdoor fun and games! Camp will take place at Hurricane Creek Park. Registration opens May 1.

Rock Climbing Classes

Dates: August 11 – 25

Ages: All ages

Cost: $50

Times: Saturdays at 10am

Class will include three climbing sessions, the first on “The Slab” beginner rock face at Hurricane Creek Park, the second on more intermediate levels at the park, and the third week will include a trip TBA. Class includes all climbing material; no experience required. Registration opens July 1.

Family Camp-Out

Dates: July 14

Ages: 15 & under and their parents

Cost: $25 per family

Times: Friday at 7pm through Saturday at 8am

Camp-out will take place at Hurricane Creek Park with scavenger hunts, fire-making, wilderness survival, relay games, competitions, s’mores, and more.

Community Garden at Nesmith Park

Dates: March – October

Ages: All ages

Cost: $75

Times: 6pm on Tuesday for Classes

Includes a plot in the Community Garden for use in the March – October season, as well as gardening classes and group work sessions on Tuesdays at 6pm. Community Garden is located at Nesmith Park.

Gardening for Tots

Dates: March – June

Ages: 5 & under and their parents

Cost: $50

Times: Wednesdays at 10am

Parent and child pairings will be given their own gardening plot, and little ones will help their parents weed, plant, dig holes for planting, and more! Community Garden is located at Nesmith Park.

Adult Outdoor Adventure White Water Rafting Trip

Dates: June 23 – 24

Ages: 16 & up

White water rafting trip down the Ocoee River will take place June 23-24 for adults only. Trip will include transportation, camping at a campground overnight, and trip down the river. Look for more details to be posted soon!


CP&R Trails

CP&R hiking and biking trails are free for all to use year-round from sunrise to sunset daily.

Hiking Trails

Hurricane Creek Park

4 miles of hiking trails in a 400 feet deep canyon with waterfalls, overhanging cliffs, the Twilight Tunnel, Heaven’s Staircase, and more classic features. The park offers 67 protected acres of National Wildlife Certified habitats.

Hiking & Mountain Biking Trails

Duck River Recreation Area

13.5 miles of opened trail use along the newly formed Duck River Reservoir. This trail offers lots of natural beauty for both hiking and mountain biking.
