QUALIFICATIONS:     High School Diploma/GED, 4 Year College Degree Preferred, and at least three years of experience in planning, development and management of recreation programs, experience in administration and management of fitness facilities preferred, and at least three years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and aptitude to perform the defined duties.


REPORTS TO:     Executive Director of Parks and Recreation


Responsible for administrative and managerial work in the development, supervision and evaluation of all Wellness Center staff.

Manages the operation, maintenance, security and repair of the assigned facilities and its equipment.

Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws, and CP&R system policies.

Provides effective and efficient customer services and promotes and maintains responsive community relations.

Identifies membership fitness and leisure needs, the associated benefits and develops programming to fulfill those needs.

Responsible for the overall CWAC membership.

Responsible for the recruitment and marketing of new memberships.

Responsible for increasing corporate membership accounts.

Coordinates in-service training and safety auditing program for subordinate staff.

Develops, creates and delivers fiscally sound programming and events with a focus on revenue generation.

Oversees facility procurement in keeping with the Wellness Center Budget and the Board Purchasing Procedures.

Maintains system-wide inventory as it relates to departmental responsibilities.

Works with the Executive Director and Director of Operations on all capital outlay projects within the Wellness Center.

Assist the Executive Director and Director of Operations on the bidding process for capital related purchasing for the Wellness Center.

Coordinates the disposal of surplus property.

Coordinates and supervises system-wide safety procedures.

Responsible for all financial handling procedures and training for frontline staff in accordance with Policy and Procedures handbook.

Attends all meetings as required by the Executive Director.

Works with the Executive Director to establish annual operating budget for the Wellness Center.

Works with the Executive Director to evaluate operational policies and initiates changes for improvement.

Works with the Marketing Team on maintaining CWAC social media and website content by providing information for weekly updates, promotions, etc.

Assists Marketing Team with the assembly of Parks & Recreation Activity Guide. Establishes, prepares and edits all programs and facility descriptions.

Acts as a member of the Recreation Team for special events, programs and other activities.

Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation Administrators; embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the Cullman Parks and Recreation Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.

Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel and Community.

Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


The work area is well lighted, ventilated and heated. Occasionally work outdoors where there is a potential to be exposed to various weather conditions.


The physical demands for this position are moderately active. Walking, running, standing, bending, stooping, jumping and carrying of moderately heavy items may be required. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds of weight without assistance.
