What is the Midnight Run?

The Midnight Run 5K is a popular race run every year on the streets of Cullman at midnight. The race averages close to 1,000 runners per year from across the region, and the race will include a FUN black light element. This year’s course will feature black light glow stations as well as color stations where runners will have neon, glowing colors thrown onto them. Serious runners will have the option to bypass these color stations, and the race will be professionally timed for all runners to receive their times. Awards and cash prizes will be given to winners. There will also be a black light party before and after the race at the start and finish line! Race starts at the Cullman Civic Center.

What are the details of the race?

The Midnight Run 5K is sponsored by EvaBank and will start and finish from the Cullman Civic Center on Friday, August 4, 2017. T-shirts and goodie bags will be given to all runners; t-shirts sizes are granted on a first-come, first serve basis, and priority goes to our pre-registered runners! Pre-registration will be open June 23 through August 4 at 5pm, and the cost is $25 per runner.

Early packet pick-up begins at 5pm on Friday, August 4 at the Civic Center.  Night-of registration will be $30 and takes place from 10pm-11:45pm at the Cullman Civic Center.

Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each age division as well as cash prizes of $250 to the overall male and  female winner, and $200 to the overall masters male and female winners. Be sure to come dressed in your best glow-in-the-dark attire; prizes will also be given to our best dressed runners!

How can I register?

Registration will be open at any EvaBank location across North Alabama, at the Cullman Civic Center, or online at http://www.active.com/cullman-al/running/distance-running-races/evabank-midnight-run-5k-2017.

What do I need to wear? Will I get messy running the race?

If you are planning to run the black light portions of the course and have the neon color powder thrown on you, then you will need to wear a white t-shirt or your EvaBank Midnight Run shirt, which will be white. Runners will have the options of running through the color and glow stations on the course, as well as participating in the black light parties before and after the race, so how  messy you get is up to you! Our neon black light powder is designed to be removed from clothing and will wash off of your skin easily.

What is the schedule for the night of the race?

Packet pick-up for pre-registered runners will start at 10pm at the Cullman Civic Center the night of the race.

The Civic Center will also be open starting at 10pm for night-off registration if you have not already pre-registered for the race. The pre-race black light party will take place in front of the Civic Center starting at 10:30pm; don’t miss this chance to walk away with FREE glow items, color packets, and more fun prizes that will be thrown out at the pre-race party under our black lights. The race will start at 11:59pm on Friday, August 4.

The after race party will start at 12:30am on Saturday, August 5 where a color throw will be held every ten minutes until all runners have completed the race. Timing is automatic, so results will be live and times available as you cross the finish line!

Awards will be given away at 1:15am to age categories and overall winners of the run.

Race Day Schedule 

5pm – 7pm – Early packet pick up at the Civic Center

10pm – Civic Center Opens for packet pickup and night-of registration ($30)

10:30pm – Pre-race black light party starts in front of the Civic Center

11:59pm – Race starts in front of the Civic Center

12:30am – After-party under the black lights begins

1:15am – Results awarded for age groups and overall winners

What does the Midnight Run benefit?

The Midnight Run 5K benefits the Cullman Parks & Recreation Foundation, which raises money for upgrades, developments, and support for CP&R’s programs, events, and activities. CP&R offers free programs annually to kids, adults, and special needs individuals, as well as maintains over 150 acres of park-land that is used for free by the public.

Funds for this event go to support CP&R’s efforts to offer something for everyone in the community.
